Ep 6: How One Angry Call Changed My Career

Your Reputation Isn’t What You Say—It’s How You React
Hey, everybody. Today’s mindset reset hits deep—because it comes from one of the most emotional, real, and defining moments in my career.
Let me take you there.

The Angry Call That Came Out of Nowhere

I had just joined a new organization, and I was all-in on building my brand—reliable, excellent, a go-to partner. And then… BOOM. Out of nowhere, I get a furious call from someone I’d been trying to do business with.
“Don’t you EVER call me again,” she yelled. “Don’t ever come near our office.”
What?! I didn’t even have a deal with her! Turns out, another rep from my company blew up a transaction, and she was lumping me into the mess.

My Unfiltered, Unprofessional Moment

I was mad. I mean, really mad. I stormed into the president’s office, ranting and ready to unleash. He sat quietly, arms folded, listening without flinching.
And when I was finally done, he looked at me and said:
“Don’t cry in the office. Don’t raise your voice. You will have problems. But how you react to them—that’s your brand.”
💥 That hit me like a ton of bricks.

The Response That Changed Everything

He was right. Every company makes mistakes. Every leader faces messes. But what builds your reputation isn’t perfection—it’s your response.
I called that angry client back. I took ownership. I showed up with integrity, solutions, and professionalism.
She went from “never again” to “raving fan.”
She referred us business.
She became one of my most loyal advocates.

Your Reset Today

Ask yourself:
  • Is there a client you need to call?
  • A mistake you’ve been avoiding?
  • A fire you need to face with calm and courage?
Your reputation is your brand.
And it’s one response away from being strengthened—or damaged.
Take care, everybody—and let’s go attack it. 💥
