Let’s be real: most social media videos get ignored. Not because they’re bad, but because they’re boring. And in the ruthless battlefield of social feeds, boring doesn’t stand a chance. If you’re in sales, video is a powerhouse for building trust and engagement—but only if people actually watch.
The brutal truth? You’ve got three seconds—maybe less—to grab attention before your audience swipes away to a cat meme. So, how do you stop the scroll and make people stay?
1. Open Strong—No Fluff Allowed
Forget the “Hey everyone, I just wanted to hop on here and talk about…” No one cares (yet). Instead, hit them with something bold:
- A surprising fact: “80% of buyers will check you out online before they ever respond to your message.”
- A question that taps into their pain: “Struggling to get prospects to actually call you back?”
- A mini-story: “Last week, I tried a new approach in my sales calls and doubled my response rate. Here’s how.”
Watch our Founder & CEO Casey Cunningham's promotional video as an example. No greeting, just straight to the point by calling out the target audience for this video and then delivering the message.
2. Show Your Face (and Energy)
People connect with people, not logos or slideshows. Start with a close-up of your face—smiling, expressive, engaged. If you look like you’re delivering a hostage video, viewers will feel the energy (or lack of it) and move on.

3. Keep It Moving
3. Keep It Moving
Static = snooze fest. Cut the dead air. Use quick cuts, visuals, or text overlays to add energy. Even if you’re just talking, small edits or camera movement can keep the momentum going. If the first few seconds are slow, your video won’t make it past the algorithm’s graveyard.
4. Optimize for Silent Scrollers
Most people watch videos on mute—at least at first. Use captions, bold text, or quick animations to reinforce your message. If they can’t understand your video without sound, they’re gone. You don't have to have an editor, but it helps. If you're on a budget, head to Fiverr for a freelancer.
5. End with a Hook, Not a Goodbye
“Thanks for watching” is a one-way ticket to irrelevance. Instead, tell them what to do next:
- “Comment below with your biggest sales challenge.”
- “DM me for a copy of the script I used to land my last deal.”
- “Hit follow if you want more tips like this every week.”
Bottom Line: Don’t Be Forgettable
If your videos aren’t stopping thumbs, they aren’t growing your business. The good news? You don’t need fancy gear or Hollywood editing—just a strong hook, real energy, and a message worth listening to. Now go hit record.
