Your Team’s Growth Is Your Job—Not Their Choice
Hey, everybody! I’ve got a bold question for you today:
Are you investing in your team—or just hoping they’ll invest in themselves?
Let me tell you a story. About 10 years ago, I got a call from a sales executive asking about training for his team of 20 reps. We were having a great conversation until he said something that stopped me cold.
“I don’t think everyone’s going to want to do the training.”
Wait… what?
The Leadership Wake-Up Call
I asked him to explain. And he said, “Well, if they push back and don’t want to grow, I’m not going to force them.”
💥 Red flag.
Would you say that to your kids? “Hey, if you don’t feel like learning today, it’s fine.”
Of course not. So why say that to your team?
As a leader, your job is to guide, direct, challenge, and grow your people. You don’t ask if they feel like getting better. You build a culture where growth is the norm—not the exception.
The Best Investment You’ll Ever Make
Whether you’re a leader or an individual contributor, hear this loud and clear:
The best investment you’ll ever make… is in yourself. And the second-best? Your team.
When’s the last time you read a book? Took a class? Hired a coach?
If you’re waiting for someone else to push you, you’re playing small. And if you’re letting your team do the same, it’s time to level up.
